August 4, 2014 – Links international Journal of Socialist Renewal -- The main concern of ninth Summer University of the Party of the European Left (PEL), held outside Berlin from July 23 to July 27, was the armed conflict in Ukraine. Debate on the issue absorbed many sessions, including those not directly devoted to it, and the war in the country was a returning theme in often agitated informal discussion among the 1000 attendees from 31 countries.

June 27, 2014 – Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal -- On June 7, the leadership bureau of the Fourth International adopted a statement on the crisis in Ukraine. June 13, 2014 -- The social and class origins of the Ukrainian crisis have not been well researched. Attention has been focused mainly on the political side of events, and their socio-economic basis has been allowed to drop from sight. What were the class forces behind the overthrow of the Yanukovich regime, the installing of a new regime in Kiev, and the rise of the anti-Maidan and of the movement in the south-east?

June 12, 2014 – Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal -- The following address was delivered by Andriy Manchuk on April 11, 2014, to a three-day, European-wide anti-fascist meeting in Athens, Greece. He spoke on behalf of Borotba group of Ukraine. Borotba is a significant association of left groups and activists in Ukraine formed in 2011.
The theme of the anti-fascist meeting in Athens was, “From France to the Ukraine, and from Norway to Greece: No Pasaran!” [They shall not pass!]. The following text was first published on the English-language page of Borotba’s website. The original translation has been slightly edited for Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal, and published on June 12, 2014.

Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal has published several views from the left on
developments in Ukraine HERE.
May 25, 2014 -- Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal is translating and posting the following article in the interests of providing information and promoting discussion. It is provides an important contribution to understanding the character and direction of the popular rebellion against austerity that has arisen in eastern Ukraine following the overthrow of the Ukraine government and President Viktor Yanukovych in late February 2014.
A rightist governing regime came into power in Kyiv [Kiev] following that overthrow. The regime includes significant representation from fascist and other far-right groups. It has launched a civil war against eastern Ukraine and is severely curtailing political freedom in the rest of the country, including through the use of violence against left and progressive political movement. The regime is wholly committed to a pro-austerity program that the US and European powers are seeking to impose on the people of Ukraine.

May 5, 2014 -- May 8 is celebrated all over the world as a day of victory over Nazism that caused millions of losses and much suffering to many people of the world. However, now we see that neo-Nazism raises its head again. Far-right groups and parties are striving to take power in many countries. Their members unleash real terror against the dissenters, migrants, the "others", leftwing and anti-fascist activists.
We have to stop the rise fascism again – that’s our duty to stop it before it is not too late.
