December 15, 2012 -- Boston Occupier, posted at Links International Journal of Socialist Renewal with permission -- Author Chris Williams speaks on the roots of the climate crisis and the solutions needed to overcome it. Chris Williams is a long-time environmental activist and the author of Ecology and Socialism: Solutions to Capitalist Ecological Crisis (Haymarket Books 2010). His talk begins at the 19:56 point in the video above. He is a professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University and is chair of the science department at Packer Collegiate Institute.

The first speaker, Amity Pate, is a journalist and writer living in New York City. She writes for the Amsterdam News and is a contributor to Occupying Wall Street: The Inside Story of an Action that Changed America (Haymarket Books 2011). Pate spoke about her experiences reporting in New York during the aftermath Hurricane Sandy. This event was held in Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain and co-sponsored by Haymarket Books and the International Socialist Organization (USA).
