Asian left statements: End the US-Israeli war on Iran!

A collection of statements opposing the US military strikes on Iran from the following Asian left organisations: Socialist Party of Malaysia, Party of the Labouring Masses (The Philippines), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and a joint statement by five left parties in India — Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Revolutionary Socialist Party and Forward Bloc.
Socialist Party of Malaysia: End the US-Israeli war on Iran NOW!
The Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) strongly condemns the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran. The aggression has escalated with the US joining the Zionist Israeli war on Iran by striking nuclear sites across Iran.
The latest military aggression against Iran is unprovoked, illegal, and a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law. Since 13 June 2025, the ruthless and brutal military assault by the murderous Zionist regime of Israel, with the backing of the US, has already claimed the lives of more than 430 people, most of them civilians.
While continuously committing genocide against the Palestinian people, the Zionist regime of Israel launched an aggressive war under the pretext of dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Yet, Iran’s nuclear program is one of the most internationally scrutinized nuclear programs, and Iran is still a party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), while Israel never signed the NPT, never allowed any international nuclear inspection, and its possession of nuclear weapons is an open secret. The Zionist regime of Israel once again reveals its flagrant hypocrisy with the full backing of the imperialist US. In fact, the barbaric act of the US-backed Zionist regime of Israel has sabotaged the ongoing negotiation on Iran’s nuclear program and destroyed all the efforts to resolve this issue peacefully through diplomacy.
The US-Israeli war on Iran serves nothing except to terrorize the people of Iran and weaken forces that could disrupt the Zionist expansionist regional domination and its genocide against the Palestinian people. The escalation of aggression against Iran is further destabilizing the region and jeopardizing global peace by inviting more deadly conflicts.
Hence, we urge the governments around the world to stand united in pressuring the US and Israel to stop their barbaric war on Iran. All governments must take decisive action by severing diplomatic and economic ties with both the US and Israel. There must be a total arms embargo on Israel and a total international boycott of the US arms industries.
We also call on the government of Malaysia to recall our ambassador to the US and expel the US ambassador as the minimum form of protest against the US-Israeli war on Iran. As the chair of ASEAN 2025, Malaysia must gather the members of ASEAN to take decisive actions collectively to put pressure on the US to end the war on Iran and the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, as well as to preserve a just peace for humanity globally.

Party of the Labouring Masses (The Philippines): No to U.S. and Israel’s War on Iran! Defend the sovereign rights of the Iranian and Palestinian Peoples!
The U.S. bombing of Iran’s three nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, is an illegal and criminal aggression. It has opened a Pandora’s box that widens the war in the Middle East with dangerous and far reaching consequences for global peace and security.
This military escalation is not just about Iran’s nuclear program. It is an intervention to support the genocidal Israeli regime and the U.S. and imperialist interests in the region.
The specific aim is regime change, to replace the current leadership of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei with a puppet regime obedient to the U.S., and support Israel’s colonial occupation and genocide against the Palestinian people.
Lies about Iran’s nuclear weapons
The U.S. and Israel have long spread lies that Iran is building nuclear weapons. But even reports from the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) have found no concrete evidence of it. Iran’s nuclear program is focused on energy and medical research and is well under its legal rights under the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty), to which it is a signatory.
US President Donald Trump has dismissed even his own intelligence agencies’ findings. In March, the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told lawmakers the intelligence community, “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon”. Trump dismissed this publicly by saying: “I don’t care what she said. I think they were very close to having one.”
Unlike Israel and the U.S., Iran has no nuclear weapons and it is regularly under IAEA monitoring. Iran’s enrichment of uranium beyond previous limits is a response to U.S. violations, not the cause of conflict.
Contrary to Western media claims, it was the U.S. that broke the nuclear agreement. Under President Donald Trump in 2018, the U.S. unilaterally withdrew from the talks between Iran and six world powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) and reimposed sweeping economic sanctions that devastated Iran’s economy.
In response, Iran increased its uranium enrichment, but it was still under the weapons-grade limit (90%). Iran’s move was a legitimate countermeasure, conditioned on the lifting of sanctions and the full return of the U.S. to the agreement.
Long history of US regime change in Iran
This is not the first time the U.S. intervened to crush Iranian sovereignty. In 1953, the CIA organised a coup against the democratically elected nationalist government of Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, two years after it nationalized the British-owned oil industry in Iran. The coup put in power the monarchy under the brutal dictatorship of the Shah (King) Reza Pahlavi. The Shah’s dictatorship was characterized by unbridled brutality, murder and torture.
Under the Shah, Iran became a key pillar of U.S. domination in the Middle East, alongside apartheid Israel. Tens of thousands of U.S. military personnel trained the Sha’s army and the elite Royal Guard.
But this regime did not last long. A massive revolutionary uprising in 1978-1979, involving striking industrial workers, students, women, and oppressed national minorities (including Kurds, Azerbaijanis, Arabs, and others) overthrew of the Shah. The Iranian people demanded national freedom and justice. The Shah fled the country on January 16, 1979, just like former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. who was fled the Philippines during the Edsa 1 uprising in 1986.
From revolution to theocracy
However, the revolutionary aspirations of the Iranian masses were hijacked by the clerical regime of Ayatollah Khomeini. While Khomeini opposed the Zionist state of Israel and denounced the U.S. as the “Great Satan”, it also moved swiftly to restrict the Iranian masses and rolled back the gains of the revolution.
Women, who had marched in their millions with the men, were among the first to face repression. Independent worker organizing, student uprisings, and national struggles were violently curtailed. It took several years for Khomeini to fully suppress opposition and consolidate his theocratic regime.
The U.S. and Israel, along with other imperialist powers, have been attempting regime change in Iran ever since the revolutionary overthrow of the Shah through sanctions, assassinations, covert operations, economic warfare, and proxy conflicts.
Oppose U.S.-backed regime change
Today, the U.S. and Israel’s campaign for regime change is framed as a response to Iran’s nuclear program. It is fundamentally about reasserting imperialist control over a key strategic region and eliminating any government that dares to challenge Israel’s genocide in Palestine and U.S. dominance in the Middle East.
It is in the interest of all anti-imperialist, progressive, and working-class forces globally to oppose the imperialist drive for regime change in Iran. The Iranian people have the right to determine their own future, even to change its government, but free from foreign intervention, war, and occupation.
Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation: On US military aggression against Iran
The US has now directly attacked Iran. After destroying Iraq, Libya and Syria, the US-Israel axis of aggression wants to destroy Iran and destabilise and subjugate the whole of West Asia.
The peace loving people of the world must condemn this blatant act of US aggression.
India must not support the US-Israel axis in this totally unjust war and demand an immediate end to imperialist invasion of Iran.
Hands Off Iran!

Joint Indian left statement: Condemn US bombing of Iran
The undesigned five Left parties strongly condemn the United States' bombing of Iran. This is a grave violation of Iranian sovereignty and the UN Charter, and it will inflame global tensions, destabilise West Asia and have severe economic repercussions.
The US and Israel are justifying their attacks by claiming that Iran was on the verge of developing a nuclear weapon. However, it is important to note that the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated on 19 June: “We did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon”. Even US intelligence agencies acknowledged that they did not possess conclusive evidence indicating that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon. Furthermore, Iran remains a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Despite these facts, Israel launched an attack on Iran on 12 June to sabotage any potential negotiations between Iran and the US. Now, the US has joined Israel in this act of aggression, even though President Trump had given a two-week window for talks. This clearly demonstrates that the US-Israel axis has little regard for their own intelligence assessments or any diplomatic process, and is intent on imposing war on Iran and the entire West Asian region. This makes it evident that the real intention is to destroy Iran, establish imperialist hegemony over West Asia, and control the global flow of resources. This attack is aimed at serving the interests of the military-industrial complex and enabling international capital to navigate its way out of the prolonged crisis.
The US deployed B-2 stealth bombers to drop bunker-busting bombs on Iran, reenacting the invasion of Iraq, which was also launched on similarly unverified claims that were later proven false. It is ironic that US, the only country to have ever used a nuclear weapon — despite Japan being ready to negotiate at the end of the Second World War — is now speaking about the threat of nuclear weapons!
The US attack will, in all likelihood, drastically escalate the conflict, with disastrous implications for global peace and the livelihoods of ordinary people — especially in countries like India, which rely heavily on West Asia for oil imports and opportunities for migrant labour. The already burdened working masses will be the worst affected by the economic fallout of the war.
The Indian government must immediately abandon its pro-US, pro-Israel foreign policy stance and join global efforts to stop the war. We urge all peace-loving people of our country to unite in condemning the US attack and to organise protest actions against this imperialist aggression.
